Oh, for sure! I’ve never worked as an adjunct, but know many people who have, and have often thought, “my goodness, what’s the point?” — the pay seems just atrocious. I think universities get a pass because they know people want the experience (and maybe the prestige?) of having taught at the college level, but asking people for such extensive experience and credentials for literally poverty-level wages is just shameful!
